I was born in Europe, in Pocking, Bavaria, at the end of WW II. In 1965 I left Germany and came to the U.S. I worked in Seattle as a chef. A few years later, in 1970, I moved to Anchorage to work as a Purchasing Manager for the airline industry. I worked on the pipeline as an assistant camp manager.
After the pipeline years, my brother and I opened a family restaurant in Mountain View. I also worked as a property manager until my retirement last year.
As a long time Alaskan, I've been able to enjoy the natural beauty of Alaska. In the early 80's I homesteaded in the Kahiltna area near Skwentna. I am an avid sportsman and a pilot. Some of my fondest memories are of time spent fishing with my son Eric.
I've been active in community life. I've supported measures to lower property taxes on home owners. I've fought for our free speech rights. I recently served on the board of Chugach Electric where I worked to protect the rights of rate payers.
